Black Swan Down > MIL Lab > Targeting Systems
Details

Across sport shooting, home defense, and the military, laser sights have become a staple of target acquisition and shot placement. At the same time, anyone having the pleasure to use a Trijicon ACOG has experienced the incredible accuracy and speed of using a glowing reticle. Our goal was to take the best of the reticle to non-optical weapon systems leveraging a few principles:

  •   A dot does not assist the eyes' calculation of dimensionality and distance

  •   Under duress, having clear dominant visual indicators can mean life or death

  •   The human eye is more sensitive to the color green

  •   Green light appears 30 times as bright as red with the same power level

  •   Color blind and senior shooters have can have difficulty with red colors

By leveraging a green direct-diode semiconductor laser, we're able to project a fixed mildot reticle helping gauge target distance and width, with a new twist. Enclosed in the solution patent is that the reticle is always self-leveling, ensuring clear target acquisition and orientation awareness in any firing position.
